How is Windows CE related to the Pocket PC?


Windows CE is the operating system that runs on a family of PDAs called Pocket PC. The Pocket PC devices were formally called palm-sized PCs and Handheld PCs. These names were a bit too much like the Palm Handheld, a whole other line of PDAs, so Microsoft changed the product line's name in spring 2000.




What is Pocket PC?

A Pocket PC, abbreviated P/PC or PPC, is a hardware specification for a handheld-sized computer (Personal digital assistant) that runs the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system. It may have the capability to run an alternative operating system like NetBSD, Linux, Android or others. It has many of the capabilities of modern desktop PCs.
